Nepean, Ontario — Where Smart Choices Stick Around Longer Than the Weather

With over 27 years of experience in the roofing industry, Interlock Metal Roofing is a trusted name in the community.

Homeowners just 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa, between the Greenbelt and the Rideau River, choose to upgrade with intention—not just build to last. One Nepean homeowner did that in May 2020 when they installed a Deep Charcoal Interlock Slate Shingle Metal Roofing System—a decision that has delivered lasting performance, season after season.

Nepean isn’t just a suburb—it’s a well-rooted, history-rich community with ties dating back to 1792. While it’s full of quiet, tree-lined crescents and parks, it’s also exposed to all the extremes of Eastern Ontario weather—from brutal winter freeze-thaws to humid summers and everything in between. That’s why roofing matters here—a lot.

Catherine, the homeowner, had high expectations and a lot of questions. Fortunately, Derek, their Interlock representative, was there every step of the way, delivering answers patiently and clearly—walking through every feature and benefit without the pressure. It’s a conversation, not a pitch. Our representatives are here to guide you through the process, ensuring you make an informed decision that’s right for you.

Here’s what she said after the install:

This kind of feedback matters—because it tells a story beyond “nice shingles.” It’s about investing in a roofing system that solves problems you haven’t considered. Lifetime warranty? Check. Energy efficiency? Built-in. Won’t rust? It’s aluminum. Wind resistant? That’s the 4-way interlocking design at work. Solar compatible? Absolutely. Will they ever need to re-roof again? No. It’s not just a roof- it’s a choice to be done with roofing. Forever. And with Interlock Metal Roofing, you can be confident in the enduring durability of your investment.

It’s not just a roof—it’s a choice to be done with roofing. Forever.

And in a sunny part of Ontario like Nepean—where homeowners enjoy over 2,100 hours of sunshine each year and still have to battle heavy snow and the occasional windstorm—it’s the kind of peace of mind that sticks, keeping you safe and secure in even the most extreme weather conditions. With Interlock Metal Roofing, you can be confident that your home is protected, no matter what the weather brings.

Ready to make a decision you won’t have to revisit in 15 years?

Top 10 Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Nepean, Ontario

Nepean experiences hot, humid summers, snow-packed winters, and unpredictable freeze-thaw cycles in spring and fall. Interlock’s aluminum roofing system performs exceptionally in these extremes. Unlike asphalt shingles, which can crack or curl, and steel, which can rust over time, aluminum resists corrosion, sheds snow naturally, and reflects heat for energy savings.

Aluminum doesn’t rust—ever. That’s important in Nepean, where winter salt spray and moisture hang in the air for months. Steel roofing may require additional coatings or maintenance to prevent corrosion, especially near the Rideau River. Interlock’s heavy-gauge aluminum is built to last, with minimal upkeep.

Asphalt is cheaper up front—but in Nepean, where high winds and heavy snow are common, it just doesn’t last. Most asphalt roofs need replacing in 10–15 years. Interlock’s aluminum shingles come with a Lifetime Limited Warranty, offering a lifetime of reliable performance—no re-roofing needed.

Not with Interlock. The system is installed over solid sheathing and underlayment, which absorbs sound. Most homeowners in Nepean report quieter interiors than with their old asphalt shingles.

Absolutely. Our roofing system is solar-ready, and mounting brackets can be installed without penetrating or voiding the warranty. This makes Interlock a smart choice for Nepean homeowners thinking ahead about clean energy.

Rubber (EPDM or synthetic systems) is often used for flat roofs, but it can fade, crack, and shrink over time—especially in Ottawa’s intense summer sun and icy winters. Interlock aluminum doesn’t degrade and maintains its curb appeal for decades.

Yes. A premium roof adds resale value, improves curb appeal, and reassures buyers they won’t need to replace it. In a growing real estate market like Nepean, where modern upgrades matter, a metal roof stands out from the crowd.

Cement tile is heavy, brittle, and can crack under freeze-thaw stress. It also requires additional structural support. Aluminum is lightweight but incredibly strong, making it a better fit for Nepean’s existing homes—especially those in mature neighbourhoods like Craig Henry, Centerpointe, or Stonebridge.

Interlock roofs use a patented 4-way interlocking system, meaning each shingle locks into the ones around it on all sides. This design gives it superior resistance to wind uplift and snow load, both of which are common issues during Nepean’s unpredictable winters.

Interlock Metal Roofing Ontario is 100% Canadian-owned and operated, with trained, local crews who know Nepean’s building codes, weather patterns, and home styles. Our installers are highly skilled professionals—not subcontractors—so you know exactly who’s working on your home.

Why Nepean Homeowners Are Choosing Interlock Metal Roofing

If you live in Nepean, you need a roof that can outsmart the climate. Aluminum doesn’t rust. It sheds snow. It reflects heat. And when it’s part of the Interlock system, it becomes the last roof you’ll ever need. Compared to asphalt, steel, rubber, and tile, Interlock wins on longevity, efficiency, style, and peace of mind.

Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Picton, Ontario

Picton sees everything—lake-effect winds, heavy snowfall, humid summers, and the occasional F1+ wind storm. That means durability is key. A metal roof, like the Interlock Metal Roofing System, is the best choice. Why? It’s wind-resistant, energy-efficient, and designed to last a lifetime. Unlike asphalt shingles, which can deteriorate in under a decade, a metal roof stands up to the elements without needing constant repairs.

Absolutely. Traditional asphalt shingles can start peeling off in winds as low as 60 km/h. Metal roofing, on the other hand, is built for the worst of it. Interlock Metal Roofing features a 4-way interlocking system, meaning each panel locks securely into place—no flapping, no lifting, no leaks. So when that next windstorm rolls in from Lake Ontario, your roof stays exactly where it should.

Not at all. In fact, it does the opposite. Interlock Metal Roofs help reflect solar heat rather than absorb it, keeping your home cooler in the summer. Combine that with proper insulation, and you’ll see lower energy bills year-round—especially important during those humid Ontario summers.

The numbers speak for themselves. An asphalt roof in Picton might last 10-15 years if you’re lucky—and that’s with ongoing repairs. A metal roof? It’s built to last a lifetime. That means no more worrying about missing shingles after every storm, no more costly replacements, and no more headaches.

Here’s the thing—quality costs less in the long run. Sure, asphalt is cheaper upfront, but between the repairs, replacements, and energy loss, it adds up fast. A metal roof is a one-time investment that pays for itself through energy savings, reduced maintenance, and increased home value. Plus, an Interlock roof comes with a lifetime warranty—because you should never have to re-roof again.

Yes. A metal roof can increase your home’s resale value because buyers know they won’t have to worry about replacing it anytime soon. Plus, in a market like Picton—where heritage homes and lakefront properties are prime real estate—a sleek, modern roof that never needs replacing is a major selling point.

Picton winters can be rough, but a metal roof sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt. No more dangerous icicles hanging from the edge of your roof or heavy snow loads weighing it down. And since Interlock roofs have a textured surface, you won’t get the dreaded “avalanche effect” that smooth metal roofs sometimes have.

Absolutely. Interlock Metal Roofing is solar-compatible, meaning you can easily add solar panels without worrying about damage or extra maintenance. If you’re thinking about going green, this is the perfect roof to pair with a solar system.

Yes. Curb appeal matters, especially in Picton, where historic charm meets modern design. An Interlock Metal Roof comes in a variety of colors and styles, including deep charcoal slate shingles that mimic the look of high-end roofing materials while offering superior performance.

If you’re ready to invest in the last roof you’ll ever need, it starts with a simple conversation. Get in touch with Interlock Metal Roofing, and we’ll walk you through your options, show you real customer stories from Picton, and help you make a decision that protects your home for life.

This isn’t just about picking a roof—it’s about future-proofing your home in one of Ontario’s most beautiful communities. A roof should be an asset, not a liability. So if you’re done with repairs, done with leaks, and done with wind damage, a metal roof is the answer. And in Picton? It’s the best decision you can make.

The future of roofing

5/5

We had to replace our shingles after the 2022 hurricane in our area. We chose a metal roof (aluminum) because of its durability and wind damage guarantee. We have a large, steep roof with dormers. We got 4 estimates and Ontario Roofing was the most reasonable and professional to deal with at that stage. As we awaited installation, it was easy to get in touch with the company and the production manager for updates. We are very happy with the new roof and the quality of the installation. The 2-person crew worked steadily over 2 weeks. They were friendly, quiet, and hard-working. We would definitely recommend Ontario Roofing.

Workmanship is of superior quality

Congratulations to Kelly and his team for work well done. Our roof looks great, and we are pleased with the results. The work was performed with diligence and skill. Our roof is very steep, and the workers had to be extra cautious; Kelly kept them working steadily with regard to their safety and well-being.

We were kept informed of the work-in-progress, the site was cleaned every day, and the team showed a lot of patience when additional deliveries of material were required; also, adverse weather conditions made the installation more difficult. Everything went smoothly.

Kelly was considerate and cooperated with another contractor who was working on the windows at the same time.

Thanks to Barry for a thorough sales presentation. Thanks to Kelly and his crew for proving Barry right in saying that the roof and the workmanship are of superior quality.

Yours truly,

We are pleased with our decision to purchase Interlock

5/5

Hi Barry,

We have been meaning to send you feedback with respect to the purchase and installation of our new roof. The installation went well and was done with little interference in our daily routine. As you may well know, the installers are completely self-sufficient, including washroom facilities. The workmen kept the job safe, secured each day, and cleaned up well afterward.

We are pleased with our decision to purchase Interlock and comforted by the professional way in which you and the entire team interacted with us.
Our neighbours are showing interest and see the apparent craftsmanship and benefits. Thank you for helping us along the way with your personal commitment to seeing that our questions and concerns were always answered promptly.

P.S. Please let us know whom to contact to have the lawn sign removed or arrange to remove it. The 10-week period is approaching fast, 5 September.

Kind regards,
David and Jacquie G.
