We had purchased our home in the autumn of 1984 and in 2005 had a new asphalt roof installed. From day one our deck was always covered with particles from those shingles. These were so called 25 year guaranteed shingles which didn’t last 10 years but we waited a couple of extra years. We delved into the world of re-roofing and were surprised at the cost of what a new roof would cost (whether it was a tar shingled roof or a metal roof), and their warranties.

My wife was playing Mah-jongg on her iPad and an advertisement for AlbertasBestRoof.com showed up on her screen and she asked for an estimate to do our roofs (house and 2 car garage). We were approached by Derek Bryer, a consultant for this company and he explained the differences in various roof products that were available in and outside of the company.

After the tar shingles fiasco, my wife and I already determined to go the way of a metal roof.

The night before the crew was to show up they called and said what time they would arrive in the morning. They showed up on time at 0730 hrs (730 AM) and were finished by 1815 hrs (615 PM). The crew was very professional and gave us an idea of what they were doing and went to work. There were 4 in the crew and they worked as a very efficient team and the job flowed smoothly. They also ensured that we had proper venting in the garage as there never was any venting. They did a great clean-up job and didn’t disturb any plants around the house. They were exceedingly professional.

On July 20 the night they finished a storm rolled through and low and behold in the morning no grit on our deck or patio furniture and our water barrel had clear clean water in it (yeah!! for the flowers and garden). We are very pleased with the product as our house looks great and what a great future investment.

For anyone considering purchasing an Interlock Roof:

Please know Dave and I purchased a roof for our home from Interlock in July 2014.

The roof was installed April 2015. The roof is absolutely beautiful, the installers were amazing (our home is an arch rib so is almost all roof) with their agility and ability as they worked and walked on our roof like monkeys.

Everyone from our salesman Derek the office gal Shauna to Janar and his crew was very professional and experienced in their field. Please feel free to show our roof to anyone interested in same. We would highly recommend this product and your installers to anyone we are so very happy we went with Interlock.

This is 2 years later and our roof still looks brand new, and we love it.

We had a small issue of rusty nails in the flashing and an issue with moisture in Feb 2017 with the unusual weather of warmth and cold. Within a day of contacting Interlock, an inspector was sent to assess and address the matter promptly.

Anyone who visits and sees our roof is impressed with the absolutely beautiful look of it.We previously had a cedar shingle roof and thought this metal roof might be noisy when it rained but it is quieter than the shingles were.

We would like to share our experience with the Interlock Roofing System we purchased in the summer of 2016.

My wife and I live in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Our shingles needed replacing, and we looked at all options, but a metal roof was what we agreed on the most. We saw Interlock shingles on the internet and really liked how they looked.

We really want to emphasize the timeline that was involved in getting our new roof. As I we mentioned, we live in North Battleford. I knew the Interlock office was located in Calgary and the shingles made in British Columbia. Our first concern was the logistics of getting the work done when we were dealing with a company from another province. In the end, this did not matter at all.

Neil Wetherell came to our house on April 15 where more samples were shown, and we agreed on the style of the shingle. An estimate was given, more questions answered and the contract was signed. We found Neil to be knowledgeable, polite and not overly aggressive in selling the Interlock shingles. This was appreciated.

One week later we got a phone call from Shauna Cooper in Calgary. She was our main contact with the whole installation, and we can’t say enough about her. The communication was excellent and timely. The initial call with Shauna was her follow up with our meeting with Neil and letting us know the estimated date for starting the work. There were a few emails back and forth with Shauna, and they were always answered promptly.

We have an older character home which had an old brick chimney. We thought this would be a good time to get it removed. Neil didn’t want to commit that this could be done by Interlock, but Shauna made sure that it could. This was not in the initial estimate, but the price to have this removed was very reasonable.

The Interlock Shingles arrived on site May 15.

The installers gave us one day notice that they would be starting the work and on the morning of May 23rd, they arrived with a crew of four. The installers were nothing but professional. They were all there to work. All safety precautions were observed. They maintained a clean work site. They made time to answer questions I had. On May 24, through no fault of their own, they ran out of materials. They said they would be back in 6 or 7 days and sure enough, they arrived seven days later, and after 3 hours, all work was completed on June 3.

It’s been one year now, and these are some observations so far. The noise from rain is NOT a problem. There is no difference between asphalt or interlock shingles. One really nice surprise is we have the cleanest eavestroughs on the block! No more debris from asphalt shingles accumulating in the gutters. One thing to be aware of is where to place the snow guards. It is a metal roof, and the snow will fall down. Make sure they are placed properly where you want them.

We have no regrets and are very happy with our decision to go with Interlock Shingles. The cost of Interlock Shingles might be a shock to some people, but you have to realize that this is the last roof that you will ever get. The Interlock shingles really complement our home, and we are always getting compliments. I think that says a lot about Interlock Shingles.

Just dropping you a letter to let you know how satisfied we are with the complete procedure of our dealing with your company.

It started by reading your brochures and meeting with your salesman Randal at the Home Show at the Save-On Centre in March. Upon speaking with Randal at the home show we set up an appointment with him to come to our home to speak to us and give us a quote for our roof. Having worked with salespeople all our lives in work and pleasure we found Randal to be a very professional salesman and we did not feel pressured at any time.

The roofing material was delivered and the installers notified us when they would be ready to start work on our roof. The installation took place as agreed upon. I saw an Interlock roof installed in our neighbourhood before I even knew what it was and immediately loved the proud confidence but subtle undertone of the roof (charcoal slate). Years later we sold that house and had the chance to renovate our new house and Interlock was my 1st choice. Interlock was within 10% of my quote for a steel roof and there was a little bit of room for negotiation.

The installers worked extremely hard and were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. We had a little bit of damage to a railing from when the old roof was being removed. They offered compensation, but I was able to clean it up so it is hardly noticeable.

When it rains hard, there is a pleasant pitter patter sound – not loud or disturbing at all. The roof looks amazing!

Hi Neil,

Our home is not very old, and we were constantly replacing blown off shingles and in some sections, they were even starting to curl. We decided to look into replacing it with a maintenance free shingle, which had an actual life expectancy of more than 13 years. We contacted a few metal roof companies, and Neil from Interlock was the first company to get back to us. Even though it was already November, they were able to put us on their winter program, and by February our roof was replaced. It only took them two days to do, and the roofers were very meticulous about collecting fallen material and nails, during their cleanup.

Our roof looks amazing!!! Every time we pull into our driveway, it looks like a brand new home. Interlock is a Canadian company that installs their own product, so there is no risk that warranty work would be denied because it was not installed correctly. This was one of the reasons we decided that they were the best option for us. The only thing we wish we had done differently, was getting our shed done too.

We had our roof installed back in August of 2005. We weren’t ready at the time for a new roof, but we started to look into a products that would perk up our home and were environmentally friendly. Our daughter is an Environmental Scientist and it was important to us to select a product that reflected a “good for the environment” priority. The Interlock roof is made from aluminium and was able to be installed right over our existing roof, saving the need to dump it in the landfill. The other products available did not satisfy us and we ended up choosing Interlock, even with the higher price point.

The roof still looks like it did when it was first installed. There has been no change in colour, no fading and there have been no issues. Wind and Hail were and continue to be a concern for us but thus far, with the high winds and multiple hailstorms, we have had no issue or damage.

A few months ago we decided to install solar panels. There was a lot of discussion if the solar panels could be installed on a metal roof so we were very pleased to learn that it could be done. We’d encourage anyone looking to install solar panels and/ or wanting a roof that a permanent choice, to contact Interlock.

We are sure that had we gone with a lower cost product we would have had to replace it again. 15 years ago we made the decision to buy a roof that would never need to be replaced and we got one.
